Get Real.

OK, so, I have been blogging for sometime now. I don't know how long. Couple years? I supposed I could look on my blog and see when my first entry was, but really, that requires a little more than I am willing to give today :). (and you will find that statement more than ironic since the premise of this WHOLE post is about ME giving more effort...whatever.)

And while I am not a person who makes "resolutions", I have decided to put more effort into making my blogging more real.  To me, resolutions imply that it is OK to not fulfill them and just try again next Jan 1st.  To say I'll put more effort into it means I'll try really hard, but not punish myself with guilt if I don't. See how that works? So, how about I just agree to try harder and call that good.

Anyway. There it is. REAL.

So, for my first more real post.

Last night I went to "High School Information Night" with A-Dog. Because apparently he will be in High School next year, or so he says. Here in our district we get a choice of which HS we would like for him to attend. He has it narrowed down to 2 (from 4 or 5 I think, so glad I paid good attention last night) which is the 2 we already had it narrowed down to before we went. But, we did get to hear from each school and that helped to confuse us more. One is in the lead the other is still an option. Make sense? Crystal clear? Ya, thought so. Try living it. 1 school is lottery, don't get me down that road.

So, then after we decide on a school, then he will have to start thinking about what classes he wants to take. There is an option to take AP (advanced placement), honors, pre-AP in some subjects. It's all so stinking confusing. Certainly it was not this confusing when I went to school. I just showed up and they gave me a schedule. Or, that's how I remember it....Then there is zero hour in which said child will need to be at school by 7am-ish. Doesn't that sound horribly early? It does to me.  What the heck is zero hour and what classes would be held then?

So, I can see that we have a long road ahead of us and we have about a month to pick a school. I know. Not long enough. But, school will start in July...so, no messing around!

I can tell by the number of times you crossed your eyes in boredom, you just can't wait to hear what HS he will attend, especially because you likely have not idea what difference it makes anyway.

But, that's all I have right now :)

  1. You are right. They gave you your schedule and you just had to show up. Had to take the basics and then after a year or two you could choose an elective or two. Why do they make it so complicated???? Good luck the next 4 years!! :-) He will ace whatever class he takes - he is his mother's son.
